Just sent my first tweet. Initial impressions are that I am interested about following some news stories. Found out that I have one follower immediately but it was someone that was looking for some companionship (how do they manage that). Now I'm working on how to block that person.
I had the same thing happen, much to the amusement of my 17 year old daughter! It's easy to block them - there's a drop down menu (on the right of the screen I think), that gives you options including blocking. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll find it again.
ReplyDeleteWith a bit of practice you can get pretty fine control over who you follow and who follows you. Spammers have pretty ingenious methods and are the mosquitoes of the Internet. Pesky, but not really dangerous for the most part.
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for people to follow try a Google search. I did search for "Math Teachers on Twitter" and got almost 2 million hits.
Hey Stepen, I added a few "tech geeks" friends that I knew, and then started following some people that they follow. It is amazing how many good links I have already found. I was a bit skeptical of the applications of twitter for me, but I'm sold!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. You are reaffirming my faith in this technology!
